A Moment in Seabourn’s Alaska

Ever since I met Mike 14 years ago, he had always wanted to go on a cruise somewhere adventurous. When Seabourn invited Mike and I on a cruise to Alaska I knew it was the perfect trip to finally give in to Mike's dream.

Seabourn took us through one of the most naturally beautiful places on each. I haven’t felt this inspired as I did over the 10 days aboard Seabourn, nature is truly the best source of inspiration.

We couldn’t have asked for a more magical 10 days in Alaska travelling from Vancouver to visit some of the most scenic and naturally beautiful places I have ever seen. We saw everything from humpback whales, bears, eagles and seals; whilst kayaking, sledding and hiking every day in a different part of pristine Alaskan countryside; and finishing each day at the fabulous hot tub aboard Seabourn Odyssey.

The ship was like a floating 5 star hotel with all the amenities you could ever wish for. We dined at The Grill restaurant with direct sea views and also enjoyed beautiful sunset dinners on our patio in our room. We were also able to enjoy the special events and experiences aboard Seabourn such as the Caviar On The Ice party, and the wildlife sighting onboard and ashore.

The food and beverage offering was incredible and the service was beyond impeccable. We met travellers who we are still in contact with, after sharing a hilarious afternoon out at sea watching bears, whales and sea otters up close and personal.

The interior of Odyssey made it feel like a floating 5 star hotel, our room complete with king bed, ensuite and living room and a patio which was the highlight of the trip, being able to wake up each morning with a completely different vista. That is something I won't forget anytime soon.

Mike is definitely more adventurous than me, but I have a new found love of kayaking, as we had some of the most special moments paddling up salmon streams, near glaciers and in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, aptly called ‘God's pocket’.

After all of that paddling, hiking and sightseeing, the best part was coming back on board finishing the day with a sauna and spa, followed by cocktail hour, dinner and a show.

I can’t believe it took 14 years to get me on a luxury cruise, but I know it won’t take that long for our next Seabourn adventure.
