THE PERFECT, ORGANIC SLEEP
Recently, I visited the showroom of The Natural Bedding Company to view their collection of organic, handmade and natural mattresses, furniture, bedding and accessories. I was so excited to visit the showroom as it has recently been renovated and most importantly because of the ethos behind the company.
I try to eat organic 80% of the time, so why wouldn’t I sleep organic! The mattresses are all individually handcrafted and Australian made. I choose the Dreamer for the farm which is made of multiple layers of carbon neutralised organic latex, designed to offer plenty of support, minimise partner disturbance and increase comfort. The 10cm organic latex core is surrounded by a layer of organic latex, and then the whole thing is wrapped in a layer of plush organic latex and a layer of Australian Downs wool. You can also order it without wool. The cover is certified organic cotton and hemp, hand stitched to keep all the layers in place.
And man is it comfortable.
Choosing the right mattress for you is important as you know how much of your life you spend in your bed.
Test drive the mattress. Awkward, but its the best way to work our which is best for you. Lay down, and enjoy.
I prefer medium - firm and I also add a mattress topper for extra cloud like comfort. Its also important to rotate and flip your mattress. I do mine every 8 weeks.
Styling the bed is as important as the mattress itself. I love using 100% linen sheets all year around. I love to layer with a quilt, and a chic blanket or throw at the end of the bed. Then theres the cushions, lots of cushions!
They are the most interchangeable element in your interior and I like to change mine seasonally. For me, you can’t beat crisp white linen, then add colour where needed. In the botanical room, I have chosen a Lisa Fine Fabric for the bedhead, as I want this room to be calming and bering the outdoors in. The perfect room for a natural organic mattress! Lighting is so important as it sets the mood for the space, and your bedroom should be a sanctuary.
