share the love
It was such a joy to produce the first shoot at our farm for Royal
Doulton, to celebrate the ED Ellen Degeneres crafted by Royal Doulton
collection. Not only is Ellen (we’re on first name basis) a great
design aficionado - one that I have long admired seeing her homes
in magazines - but she is also someone I have looked up to for laughter
and all-round positivity.
The new collection of 8 tableware designs in two well curated colour
directions of blue and neutral, and a range of mix and match sets, gives you
creative freedom to create your own look to suit your style.
Whether I am styling a formal table for a dinner party or something more
casual, I always try to create a setting that feels special, even if it is just an
easy weekend lunch with Mike, Louie and I. A crisp white linen table cloth,
charcoal linen napkins and green hellebore flowers are the perfect accents
and worked perfectly with the EDXRoyal Doulton collection. One of my
favourite design elements to play with in interiors is contrasting of finishes
and texture which I why I love this collection in particular. The bowls have a
matte base with a gloss glaze top and interior which gives the tableware an
artisanal quality. These design details create interest and intrigue,
We setup lunch by the outdoor fireplace, and I styled the table using the
cobalt blue brushed glaze tableware. Blue and white is one of my favourite
colour combinations and works perfectly in an outdoor setting against
crisp green. Its often hard to tear Michael away from the tractor or being in
the garden, but I try to always make a point of sitting down together as much
as we can. In between renovating the farm and working in the city, life can
sometimes be a mad rush. Its important to take time to share stories of
whats going on in our lives and connect, and being around a table with
good food and company is what brings us together.
